Unintentional injury is the leading cause of death among children ages 14 and under. More than 40 % of these deaths occurred in and around the house. Home injury deaths are caused primarily by fire and burns, suffocation, drowning, choking, poisoning and firearms. We must educate our children about safety issues when they are very young and review them frequently with our kids.
